Preparing Web Pages For Froogle

Prepare for Froogle now. Otherwise you may find yourself at a competitive disadvantage. If and when Froogle becomes a success, your products must be in a prominent ranking position to enhance or sustain market share.
Although it’s too early in the Froogle beta launch to accurately determine the Froogle ranking criteria, we can offer some insight that will platform a foundation of ranking prominence of specific product web pages.
Know How Froogle Works
Froogle algorithm clues lie in how it presents its product search results and what information is provided to the user. Similar to regular Google, relevancy to the search query will be at the heart of Froogle ranking criteria. We suspect that PageRank will be less of a ranking factor on Froogle versus Google. However, do not disregard PageRank since it remains a strong factor at regular Google.
Go to http://froogle.google.com and perform a specific product search. Pay close attention to what information is included in the results and how that info is formatted. Ranking will undoubtedly be centered upon establishing relevancy to a search query with keyword inclusions in those information areas. Proximity of where that information is located in relationship to each other will likely be a ranking factor on Froogle. Close proximity is a wise approach.
Product Photo Treatment For Froogle
Always include a product photo. A user is not likely to click-through to a web page if he/she does not see a photo since it establishes immediate visual relevancy. Place your photo in close proximity to the Product Title, Product Description and Product Price. Always “alt-tag” the photo with the product title and a model number. Including a product price in the alt tag could provide an advantage on Froogle.
Product Title For Froogle
Place the product title in close proximity to its photo, description and price. Avoid “fluff” words in the product title. Froogle limits the number of title words it will display and consider. Keep it concise, keyword rich and include the most important keywords earliest in the title. Since the foundation of Froogle is specific product search, try to include a specific model number in the title. If consumers are price comparison-shopping, they are very likely to include a model id in the search query. Bold Html will likely be an advantage. Larger type is also better.
Product Price Treatment For Froogle
If you want a product listed in Froogle, a price must be included. The "$" sign character must appear. Html code is a must. Bold carries greater ranking value. If you publish multiple prices (regular, special, after rebate, etc.) place the price you want displayed in Froogle as bold and larger type. Froogle will not display multiple prices.
Product Description For Froogle
Froogle seeks matching keywords to snip a product description of about 25-28 words. Often the snippet prices come from different locations which frequently form unintelligible gibberish that doesn’t entice click-through. For better results try creating a compelling description with keyword inclusions in an uninterrupted sentence of about 25-28 words. This improves the chances of Froogle lifting your created description, particularly if that description resides in close proximity to the product title. For best results place your description directly below the title. Do not place your description in a separate table cell away from its title and price.
Store Name (Company Name)
Include your store or company name in Html code near the top of the page. Alt tag any graphic logos accordingly. In fact, always alt tag graphical elements appropriately whether for Froogle or Google.
Web Page Title Tag
If you include only one product on a web page, include the product title in the web page title tag. Google reads up to ten words in the page title tag. Froogle is likely to consider keyword value in that tag.
URL Extensions To Froogle Advantage
URLs that are nearest the root are believed to score best in Froogle and incorporating fewer variables is more favorable.
